Research

My fisheries related research has had at least four fronts. My primary current project is the development of functions (i.e., programs) in R for performing common analytical methods in fisheries stock assessment. These routines are focused primarily on teaching concepts or performing repetitive analyses so that students can focus on the concepts. However, many of these routines will still be useful to the practicing biologist. In addition, I am particularly interested in working with undergraduate students on research or service projects of interest to them and of use to others. My doctoral research forcused on the development and further extension of the temporal signature technique. Finally, my master's research examined the trophic dynamics of ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus) in the St. Louis River Harbor, Lake Superior. Specific further information for all of these research fronts can be found below.
